Boston (SmartAboutHealth) - According to a new study, it is perfectly safe for heart attack survivors to have sex after recovering from the heart attack.
For quite some time now, it has been well-known that heart attack survivors are fearful to partake in sexual activity following a heart attack.
The reason for this is due to the fact that they believe that it may actually lead to another heart attack.
Researchers have cleared the air though, stating that it is perfectly safe for them to take part in sexual activity again.
The new study revealed some startling information in regards to the link between sex and heart attack survivors.
The study revealed that 30% of men and 40% of women reduced their level of sexual activity following their heart attack.
On top of that, it was very common for both men and women to talk to their doctors about the potential to take part in the activity after they recovered.
The general consensus from the study is that there is a clear level of confusion between doctors and patients in regards to just how safe the activity is after a heart attack.
The bottom line coming out of the study though is that heart attack survivors should not worry about having sex after recovering.
The risk of having a heart attack due to sexual activity is 1 in 50,000.
The key to remaining healthy following a heart attack was to partake in exercise regularly.
