Hehe ! did you know that chinese cannot pronounce properly the word Sipsong ? I once taught a chinese woman who tried to sell me some chinese product to pronounce " Sipsongphanh ". she tried to say twelve thousand kip in lao, she said " Xisiong pang" . So, it is not strange that xishuan panna was derived from " Sipsongphanna " in lao word = twelve thousand rice fields. for the annexation of this lao province by china story was obcure, we have not any document as evidence to prove it ... but people there still understand lao said a friend of mine who visited the south of china.
No body know! because since Siam burned Vientiane and all Doguments so we lost every things to bad Siam!!
If you want to know exactly somebody need to do some research way way back than LanXang Kingdom and Siam, Because before our (TakoonTai=Ailao) Migrated to Souvannaphum(SouthEast-Asia) our last Kingdom was Anachack-NongSae including Sipsongphunna known today as Yunnan provine.. and i don't know that if we have a piece of this History.. Maybe some, you have to wait ok Buddy, i do think that somebody might have Information about this... i also will do some research myself too...ok..
I've been as far north as Lijiang and there are no original Han Chinese anywhere.
The Bai Kingdom centered on Dali was much bigger than Luang Prabang, and there was another kingdom centered on the lakes of Kunming. The first Chinese were Afgans from Kubla Kahn's army, he sent them down there to raise hell and they got left when the Mandarins took over the thrown. Notice how all the old time Chinese in Yunnan are Muslims? Heck they're Afgans, look at them long enough and you'll start seeing a long nose once in a while, or round eyes. Tons of tiny kingdoms and principalities. Heck Laos has only really been a nation state since the French took over and drew lines on a map. Thailand too. Even the word Thailand is an attempt to unite all those little kingdoms.
This is Sip Song Panh Nah today any body understand what she is talking about. May be 50 years from now if when Lao people become minority and perhaps Laotian will lose all the Lang Xang action just like Sip Song Panh Nah . May be Lao Chinese , Lao Vietnamese, Lao mix with Thai like Esan. That is sad but it is the truth that all of Lao will be absorbed by Chinese , Vietnamese and Thailand. Laos have always loses the war to China since the beginning of the history. Also laos always lost the war to the neighbouring countries such as China , Burma , Vietnam and Siam because Lao people were never united and always a lot of corruption and betray traitors to bring the foreigner to be the master and made them self leaders regardless what the price Lao people have to pay. Laotian asked the French to take Laos away from Siam which Laos was mistreated and slave by Siam that the French looked at Siamese as barbarian to the Laotian at that time when the french took over so there were no different to be ruled by the other master. Yes the situation between Laos and the French were much better than Vietnam and Cambodia with the French. There were less fight for Laos against French to gained the independent but there were the fight among Laotian and Laotian were more then the fight between Laotian and the French.

Let' me correct you Bro, when you said'' Mandarins take over the China, No, not the Chinese that took over, It' was a Ching Dynasty ( Manchurians) that took over at that time.. But, they the Manchu kept the chinese traditions.. almost every thing....
Lao people always lost the war against the other nation because Laotian people are peaceful people and not the warriors. Laotian are farmer and kind and peaceful people not barbarian. Of course there were some corruption and traitors who betray their own Lao people so they could be the the leader them self.

Brother, there was no lao-lanxang(known for chinese as Lung-xung) at this period of time.. LanXang wasn't exist Until mid thirteen ceturies.. at this period of time, and at this period (por-sor 1161) Ai-lao KingDom was at Muong NongSae, and the first King name: Chao KhunMuong, and Second name: Chao KhunMuongKhamtok (Chao-Mongkatok known to the Chinese people) and this period, Chaolao gethering all six bigger towns made it as one province known as (Tai-Muong or NanChao or Kingdom of the South)... i got some more, but too lazy to put it out... ok bro..

Thank you for the in formations, there are a lot of young Laotian in Laos and over sea still don't know about the truth of their motherland's history and who and where were their ancestors coming from . They are still wondering and trying to find out about the truth. As we know and study in only one history text book from one country that couldn't be the fact because every country wrote for their own history of their countries and only the good thing for their countries but that is not the truth. So we have to study all the countries were involved with Laos at that time when the history were happened then compared to each other at that time with all the neighbouring countries . So as you have told as that Lang Xang didn'y exist yet at that time but Laos still lost the war to China and since the Lao history began from Ai Lao and Laotian have never won the wars because of the same reasons .

Lao lanxang didn't lose Sibsong Panna. It was Sibsong Panna themselves who lose to Burmese and it was the Siam who took Sibsong Panna back and then lose them to "Jean Haw" (Chinese Muslim 回族) because of the French get in the way.
