Had the regular North Vietnamese solders and Viet congs not illegally crossing over to Laos to bypass the heavily defended border between north and south Vietnam then there would be no bombing in Laos.  Blame both sides not just one.

America was only trying to stop those Vietcong thug that try to jeopardize other country and its people's right to freedom like what those Vietcong did in Vietnam war so America along should not accountable for those uxo, those Vietcong and any other country that were involved at that time too!

Lao gov have been receiving money to clear out uxo for many years already, why are some people still winening about it! You should go ask Lao gov why it take so long for this project with all the money that they've all ready received for this project?

Since 1980 the donations money from the countries
around the world for clearing the unexplode bombs in
Laos about 4 million dollars a year.

30 years time 4 million= 120 million dollars.

Where all those money?

PASASON LAO, If you want to know where
those money go, ask your Government.

your kidding!!!!

You know how many Tons of Bomb have been droped  from the air. The Lao Government will spend next 100 year ( If they lucky) to complete all UXO  in Laos. You need to know more information on OXU clearance program in Laos. It not just come to criticize it cause a lot of miss understood for other people. I know so many counties donate some grand event UNDP. ODA and other private sectors. And all the fund will provide directly to UXO organization like UXO Lao , NRA, MAG. Handicap International , NPD and other NGO who work with UXO clearance Project.
The Lao Government will not touch any single $ from this donation.
It is not very smart accusasion that you made. If you don't know batter don'y say OK

For the sake of argument, you should show the evidence of how much from the $120 million dollars was spended on UXO project by Lao government for more than 30 something years?

You miss so many information regarding UXO clearance Program in Laos. The first year we started survey on UXO contamination over the Laos in 1990. And the first organization who started UXO clearance program is MAG ( Mines Advisory Groups) in 1994. In Xiengkhouang province. And follow by HI ( Handicap International) Operation in Savanakhet Province And NPA ( Nowegian People Aid) Operation in Xekong and attapue province. Thier all NGO. But they work under UXO Lao rule and regulation.

I still do not understand what you just taking about laos has been UXO clearance 30 years ago. That wrong information!!! If you need more in formation on it please go to
NRA office in vientaine or go to UXO Laos website it might making you wake up.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Air_Force_In_Thailand

During the Vietnam War, about 80% of all USAF air strikes over North Vietnam originated from air bases in Thailand. At its peak in 1969 a greater number of Airmen were serving in Thailand than were serving in South Vietnam.

How you suppose the American Warplanes managed to run their bombing raid on North Vietnam from their air bases in Thailand? If not via Lao Airspace? If the US can violated Lao Airspace to bombs Vietnam. What do you expect the Vietnamese to do? Sit around and do nothing?

Vietnamese perspective:

Vietnam was only trying to intercepted the American warplanes heading for Downtown Hanoi from their air bases in Thailand via Laos.

Genius,

Do you know the cost of C-4 that the Mine Clearance Teams used to detonated those UXO? The cost of bomb detecting equipments, transportation, educating the population, training staffs, salary and administration. How many square kilometre of land are affected?

The American spent $584 billions to wage war on Indochina. Certainly $120 million in 30 years is not enough to remove bombs from Laos.

The Vietnam War ended up costing the US around $584 billion according to this website: http://members.aol.com/usregistry/allwars.htm#cst

If that's the case then why were thousands of North Vietnamese soldiers in Cambodia?  Did the US have planes there also?  North Vietnam was using Laos and Cambodia to launch attach against South Vietnam.  This is well documented.

I am neither pro US nor pro North Vietnam.  You need to do more reseach and think for your self.

How 's about Vietnam ? North Vietnam had some part to give the American the excuse to bomb Laos by broke the Geneva peace treaty that Laos was an independent and neutral country .

As I have my comment above regarding UXO clearance Activities. I though you never visit any site of UXO clearance Project. I have been worked with UXO program over 10 years in both xeingkhouang and Saravane province as program Manager. You can't imagine how difficultly to done this very Dangerouse work. You have to becareful every step you walk over the site. The UXO is not just remaining on the surface but also buried in the ground. every time you clear the land you have to chearch every square metre. And you have to dig up every sound reading from detector. Do you see??? I want to explain more detail for you to understand this issue. but I hope this minor information will make you a bit understand.

As a LaoAmerican, I believe the U.S is trying to hide there secret bomb from the rest of the world. Also right now the U.S gov. are using Favoritism for Vang Pao and the Hmong supporter people as another political game in the future of Laos. I don't agree with this political idea and also using the Hmong as a shield from the Laotian people and Laos future.no

Obviously, it is you that could use a little researching of your own.
http://www.taxivantha.com/1_Cambodia/116.htm

"In 1963, Prince Sihanouk announced the immediate termination of Washington's aid program to Cambodia. The final break came in May 1965 amid increasing airspace violations by South Vietnamese and by United States aircraft and of ground fighting between Army of the Republic of Vietnam troops and Viet Cong insurgents in the Cambodian border areas."

"In the sixties, CIA conspiracies to dispose of Sihanouk were discovered, involving the rightwing Khmer Serei troops in South Vietnam. Another plot involved Dap Chuon's establishment of a "free" state that would have included Siem Reap and Kampong Thom provinces and the southern areas of Laos that were controlled by the rightist Laotian prince, Boun Oum."

 http://history1900s.about.com/od/vietnamwar/a/vietnamwar.htm
"In 1954, after suffering a decisive defeat at Dien Bien Phu, the French decided to pull out of Vietnam. At the Geneva Conference of 1954, a number of nations met to determine how the French could peacefully withdraw. The agreement that came out of the conference (called the Geneva Accords) stipulated a cease fire for the peaceful withdrawal of French forces and the temporary division of Vietnam along the 17th parallel (which split the country into communist North Vietnam and non-communist South Vietnam). In addition, a general democratic election was to be held in 1956 that would reunite the country under one government. The United States refused to agree to the election, fearing the communists might win. With help from the United States, South Vietnam carried out the election only in South Vietnam rather than countrywide. After eliminating most of his rivals, Ngo Dinh Diem was elected. His leadership, however, proved so horrible that he was killed in 1963 during a coup supported by the United States. Since Diem had alienated many South Vietnamese during his tenure, communist sympathizers in South Vietnam established the National Liberation Front (NLF), also known as the Viet Cong, in 1960 to use guerilla warfare against the South Vietnamese."

No one believes your brain washing story about thousands of North Vietnamese regular soldiers illegaly crossed over to Laos just to shoot down B52 bombers and various type of jet fighters planes with AK47s.  Please go back to school and learn to think for yourself.  The US were no angels but North Vietnamese were just as bad.
