The laos is not even on the list. OMG!
Nowonder everytime people ask you where you were from? If you say Laos and they ask where is Laos?

Yes, it's still a country. Why do they have rights to not include us in there. Even Yemen made it to the list even though they are the lowest one.

What are you expecting out of less than 10yrs? But I believe Laos people are smart. We have too many jealous people that live close to us. I know lao people can be headed of any country if we have freedoom of choice.

Hmmmm...that's interesting. At least I didn't feel that way. I thought our Lao people lives happily and I don't think we are that poor as Westerners perceived.
I don't have to get up every day to make a living like in America. I am still well off.

It all depends on your definition for a word " WELL OFF " it can be for someone stayed home and just eat sticky rice and fish sauce so they don't have to wake up early and go to work or some stay home and live off their parents income who's also depended on foreign aid and acting like helpless child for this matter Laos economy is moving in a speed of a turtle , because people there don't want to grow up become more independent as an adult like the rest of the world. You do not impress me a bit!

I can see his/her point. I think both of you are correct. It's really depend on how you think about things. A lot of people including me kind of fed up with woking 9-5 everyday now. I might have some money left over, but I also felt like I have wasted my life working for somebody. I can't wait until I am retired to enjoy my life, I want it now since I am still young. I don't get why a lot of westerners just waiting for that moment...old and can't do much.

i heard that laos is in the top 20, but the author forget to put us in. We are even rank higher than Vietnam. thus there is no evident that we are their pupet.

According to the Worldstats (2007), Laos was ranked "135th". However,still many nations were/are behind Laos. WHY DON'T YOU TELL PEOPLE OF THOSE COUNTRIES THAT THEY ARE POOR???.

United Nations Organisation this year 2009 showed Lao ranking is 130th out of 177 countries.

Eventhough Lao is poor countrt generally, but my family is not that poor, My income per month is around USD 3,500, My dad business earned last year about USD 87,000

I've my big house with 2 maids, 1 security, 1 gardener and 1 driver

Am I poor?

honestly it is consider poor for international standard, but in Laos ,is well off for Lao income bracket

In Response to the Gentleman Who said'' Lao should be another State of U.S.A.'' I don't know if you were joking or seriously, But if you really serious about What you just said. I would like to be the first person to oppose it. Why?? very easy Answer, now, look at these colonies countries, Puerto-rico, American-Samoan, Guam, Now tell me how many high Rise building you see in these countries, None, Right. What about Skytrain, Zero, especially Puertrico just became tourist destination that's it. and of course these countries used American currencies, and their infrastructure just a litle bit better than Laos.
