At night, when I look across the river, I see about a gazillion times more light than fifteen years ago.

Another way to look at it. All those lights represent areas of CO2 that needs to be sequestered.

bro, Speak-out you are right, but as for Laos, we don't preserve any energy haha, we are so called " Battery of southeast Asia " but at the present remains hundred of thousand villages don't have the electricity . but it 's gooooooooooooood for earth man, We dont produce too much energy and pollute the air , save the world.

I have to agree with you in this point.
But, you will see nothing when you have sex.
My recommend is to use candle light

Believe me before 1975, Pakse even did not have enough electricity for the whole city, one night this part of Pakse had electricity then next, other part ....etc, example tonight Thahine side had electricity then tomorrow night Thahine did not have electricity something like that.....I had to study by using Petrol lamp, or candle...but I am happy my nephews and nieces have electricity for their study, they even have computer so must better than my time.

I think your eyes have a problem. Cant you see? major Lao city like Vientiane, Savannhakhet, Pakse are quite bright.

give light to the sky is stupid. it's just waste of energy. all the city lights should be directed to the ground, to avoid use energy and polute for nothing. moreover, this make the sky so bright that scientists cannot explore the sky any more and cause them lot of trouble. This is "light pollution"

So it's good if you cannot see laos on this map
