I don't like BeerLao umbrella being in front of king Sethathirat's statue. He is one of the most revered Lao leader. The That Luang compound is a also a sacred place. I've been to many religious places around the world and this is the first time I've ever seen such thing.

don't forget my friend, our king loved to drink, but it was so sad that we didnt have beerlao on that era.
Nothing can stop Beerlao, Beerlao is now in every corners, no matter the school, temples, hospital, and now the king compound.
Oh wow
This country has no respect for its history and tradition. This is nothing short of sacrilege. What do you expect? They even put gift shop inside a monument (Patuxai) for the the people that fought for Lao independent from France so everything is fair game now.

Don't you know anything about Heet Sip Song Khong Sip Si? There was a law for the king that said the monarch is forbidden to consume alcoholic drinks.

Welcome to the Reality! Laos is like everywhere else, where globalism is the fact of life.

Apparently somebody in the Patikan camp conveniently forgot to mentioned that law to Chao Air, the drunk!

Apparently history is not your forte. Patuxai is formerly known as Anouxavary, erected by the former Royal Lao Government to honor its war dead fighting the Revolutionary Forces. The cement that Patuxai was built with was stoledfrom the American AID project intended for the Wattay Airport enlargment projects. When the RLG collapsed, the new Lao Government renamed the landmark and replaced the Royal Army's emblem with "Bai Puck Wand" and rename it Patuxai.

Good thing, the Lao Communist are far from civilization. If they're closed to civilization like the Lao Patikan, That Luang, would be a bombing range for American warplanes. Only smart people like the Lao Patikan would leave a perfectly good Country to become a refugee in other Country. lol
Whoever post this Photo, has misled, misinform, misinterpret, and people all over had jump to the issue and believed that people in Laos don't care about the most sacred place in Laos. as i look over and over i didn't see any problem at all, Accept a big ugly beer-lao umbrella. and also all of you can see under the umbrella there's a little table with the flower on top, What do all of you think what was the flowers for ?? for the tourist who wanna go inthere and pay respect to the King. i didn't see any flowershop or mini flowershop. some of you here gone too far with the comments. Oh don't get me wrong i know all of you here love our country, ok.

Oh wow
Umbrella & small table should move out side the fence & do not block the view.
you have good mind , good eyes and you're right about the small table & umbrella are blocking the ENTRANCE and making it differ- cult for visitor to go in/out from that beautiful place. It would be nice to have a small booth for admission fee, gift , souvenir, drinks, and snacks for visitor to buy, some where close to Thatluang Monument and King Saysetthathirat compound before enter that area for sight seeing. This would means money Laos and a job for Laotians too even is not a big bussiness, because small things adds up and Cheer! for Laos.
