Gamblers can gamble in casino in heart of Golden Triangle from 9 September


(KPL) A casino, located in the heart of the Golden Triangle, will be declared officially open on 9 September and on the same day the owner of the casino would also hold a ground breaking ceremony for developing the properties and businesses linked to the casino such as hotel, golf course and trade centre.
Local authorities disclosed yesterday, many people would be at this ceremony, officials. Gamblers and visitors.

The operator, Chinese owned company, Comprehensive Tourism Sites Development Project sited the casino in Tonpheung district, Bokeo province, in the heart of the Golden Triangle, sharing borders with Thailand and Myanmar.
Mr Chompheng, Head of Investment Promotion Office of Bokeo province told KPL News yesterday that this Chinese company started to physically develop its allocated area in 2007.

He also said that this project is part of a long-term cooperation between Laos and Chinese company, Dok Ngeokham to develop the 40-year lease area of 827 hectares with a cash hoard of USD$86 million to build a modern infrastructural network for transportation, tourism and
recreation.

Mr Bounxay, Manager of the Comprehensive Tourism Sites Development Project said that the building for the casino had been completed, his staff were carrying out last minute decoration work and they were all ready to service the gamblers on opening day.

He said that while the casino is an important part of the overall project but another area that would have an impact on the Golden Triangle is its plan to construct a trade centre to facilitate trade, investment and tourism and to get the four surrounding countries, Laos, China, Myanmar and Thailand to be involved in such activities.

Don't we have other ways to develop the country instead of investing of gambling and all vices which lead to ruin the land of Buddhism.

Casinos will only make people rely on false hope. It the aim to create jobs it is not the solution.

I think Laos should creat job like making instant noodles and some other ingredents since our nieghbor like cambodia and vietnam always selling off there noodles here in USA. Why can't laos do the same????????

         Chinese Casinos are for Chinese workers only. So all the Chinese companies and projects in Laos  are only for Chinese workers  . Laotian could not be employed in Chinese companies in Laos for now . That is the truth.

furious This casino in  Bokeo will  create  problem for community around there be come poor more and more because they will gamble and they will not work. and casino will take their  money. people will become crazy .... because lost too much. Be careful!

Casinos are the best places for money laundering. The land concession in this special economic zone

is only $3 per hecta per year and tax exempt fro the first 10 years. . what villegers get from this zone? just grow pigs and sell to Chinese?
