what do you think about" Miai'' in the 21st century ?

Miai (見合い?, lit. "looking at one another") or omiai (お見合い?) is a Japanese custom in which unattached individuals are introduced to each other to consider the possibility of marriage. In China, this custom is called xiangqin (相親, literally "mutual familiarity").

I think it is good for Lao Nok, who cares too much on money, work all days and finally could not have any girlfriends. In the end, they have to go back Laos, and ask someone to be their wife, eventhough they have no love on each other.

The truth is despite now is the 21st century, arranged marriage is still being practiced not only in China but among muslims and rich families as well. one of the reasons is to keep the family weath in a small circle, to promote peace between clans/tribes (muslims), or to gain power.
