Anyone who want to share with me your idea on how to learn English ? I have been learning English in Laos for more than 5 years now, but I still could not speak it well.
If you have your tips, please please please show me.
1. Ask your friends who are also trying to improve their english that you converse in pure english language for at least 2 hours a day. You may choose an interesting topic to discuss. Topics need not be complicated. You may even consider implementing a rule and penalty, like for every native word spoken when you and your friends are in this mode, will be equivalent to 1 beerlao bottle.
2. Watch at least 1-2 hours of TV program in english. Not ordinary english TV program though. It has to be one that uses english language correctly like the National Geographic, Animal Planet, Discovery channel, CNN, BBC news, etc. By doing this you are allowing your ears to be familiar with correct pronounciation, etc.
3. Read at least 1 good article in english preferably from Reader's Digest, Time Magazine, Newsweek, or you can check out the internet. These materials uses correct english. Read silently so you can recognize grammatical patterns, etc. Then read aloud to practice your tongue in pronouncing the words.
4. Try to keep a journal. Write short essays to practice your writing skills, too.
5. Dont be afraid to commit mistakes but learn from them and work hard to improve your skills.
6. Dont be ashamed if people will laugh at you because you have accent or making mistakes. They are just being inconsiderate and making a mistake will not make you less than a human. Its all part of learning.

from tv and liten to tape and make sure it made by american or Uk speaking. it took me a year and helf plus I like to talk. Im not shy when it come to speaking foreing Languges. I speak 4 languges chinese, spanish and english, some french. whent it come to writting I'm not good at all.
