The Mekong riverbank needs a nice park there for relaxing from tourist to locals. :) And it also will bring a beautiful touch in vientiane waterfront don't you all think so?? :)
It is difficult to build a park near the Mekong river bank, because every year, the area around there will be flooded due to the high tide of the Mekong at the end of rainy season
Hi. thank you for posting these. Reminds me of the relaxed and unclattered way of life in Laos. I like the shot taken at the rice field... looks so serene.

That's why they can build it higher and maybe a little beaches at the lower bank. I think it can be built since its not that big of an issue.
Those are very nice photos... lane xang and around vientiane. i agree though that walkways and a park would be perfect for the riverside. Im aware of the flooding but there are architectural means of bucking this. In fact, it may even prove advantageous.
I like the idea of developing the riverside of Mekong in park. The flood can be prevented by putting up a wall along the riverside and have the structure elevated higher than the usual flood level during rainy season. I imagine that in one part there is like a children's playground with all the swings and slides, then there are public picknik tables and benches where families can use for free, especially on weekends. Then they can have some trees to line the riverbanks, then some nice cozy restaurants with southeast asian themes, then at the far end there will be some bars with open-space concerts. I think that would be nice instead of those tents. It will attract more foreign and local alike to hang out there to relax and have fun.
