1. Do not kill
2. Do not steal
3. Do not indulge in sexual misconduct
4. Do not make false speech
5 Do not take intoxicants

Does Beer Lao include in the rule number #5?
If not, I think I can follow these 5 percepton of buddism biggrin

I am also a Buddhist and try to obey and follow 5 precepts, still i sometimes drink hehehehe... but i do well the rest 4 precepts.
To believe and follow those is not becoz old belief, but it practically works to make me live in this wold physically and mentally healthy.

Oh! my Buddha, Every temple i went, Here in the US. they have a big screen TV, a Computers, Digital Cameras, CellPhone. Are the Buddha's practic allow to have all these luxury stuffs???? as i have seen here in the US and Laos all the Monks got some luxuries stuffs atleast one, and i don't think some of these Monks follow the ( Eight-Nine precepts of Buddha) never mine a regular guys like you and me follow( Sin-Haa) as a kid i've read about (Pha-Chao Siddhartha before he became a Buddhist Monk) He left his Palace and all the Luxuries thing behind to be a Monk, to practice a Buddhist Law and so on and on... Could you please explain all of these to me ?? make me understand more about our religion. to me (Thum-Ma) Mun yu nai jai either you go to Temple or Not, and the way you do thing in everyday life.. Remember i'm not here to Anti-religion and i'm a 100% Buddhist, But just could n't practic all the Buddha's Laws..

You're very brave to admit your lacking in Buddha's teaching. That's ok in a human world no one is perfect just as long as you can follow at least 4 laws out of 5 of (sinh haa) then you're ok. Peace & love to all my Lao friends at Samakomlao smile

I saw a document longtime ago, 20 years at least, they told us about a temple up in a mountain in JAPAN, this temple follow Buddha Philoshophy and no luxury was allowed in the temple....in LAO maybe only rural temples and monks leading their life simple less luxury goods...otherwise they could not escape things like Internet....etc. I myself perhaps can only keep just 1 or 2 in THE SIN HAR of BUDDHISM, avoid lying, killing, doing bad things etc...and try to live as simple as I can like, I don't own motorbike or car...happy with whatever you have...that's why many of my friends saying ' you always look young not getting old.

i think, if 70% of the USA population can practice at least 4 of 5, it'll no jail.

1:DO NOT KILL: Well, i can't promise that in society today you need some kindda protection ( Gun) but legal, If brother come in peace. then will talk peace. 2: DO NOT STEAL: This one i would n't worry about it, because in my life i've never steal (OPP) Except my own mom's monies, i mean back in the old da when you were a kid. and today, when i see some one drop their $$$ i was shaking to pick it up. 3:DO NOT INDULGE IN SEXUAL MISCONDUCT: Can't promise this either,also depend on situation on both party too..4: DO NOT MAKE A FALL SPEECH: Can't promise this one either, sometime you lie for your own good, expecially in politic, most politicians lie about policies, lie about not to increase tax on a little guys, but they all will some how and somewhere.5: DO NOT TAKE INTOXICANTS: This one i would n't worry about it, because i'm not a drinker, or smoker, but sometime when get together with friends on weekend,1-2 beers that's enough for me ( responsible drinker that's what i called ).

I consider myselft as Buddhist, eventhough I may slip off on 5th perception. Few beers with friends on weekend is the way of life to socialize and relax for me after hardwork all week long. I agree with you "bout" this time of the year "kao phan sa" we you practice these 5 perceptions. I'm sorry if I offense you. I'm may not be the most interesting man, but Iwhen I drink beer I always drink Beerlao my friend. it's my pride and joy. The 3rd precept mean not to committed adultery with other people wife or having an affair if you're married ...it doesnt not mean u cant have sex der ...
