National U15 of Laos will fly to Japan on May 31 to compete in a friendly football tournament to take place in Tokyo from June 1-8.

The tournament will see the participation of Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar and the host Japan as part of activities to mark the Mekong-Japan Exchange Year 2009.

Vietnam is scheduled to play against Japan and Lao on June 3, Thailand on June 4 and Cambodia on June 5.

After the event, players from Laos and other five countries will make a tour of Tokyo, watch a Yamazaki Nabisco Cup match, pay a courtesy visit to leaders of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and join a cultural exchange with Japanese players.

The tournament is held within the framework of an exchange programme between East Asian youths in the 21st century initiated by former Japanese PM Shinzo Abe to promote mutual understanding and  friendship between future generations of Southeast Asian and East Asian countries.

Well, let's see but I'm gonna preparing my beer and popcorn first ha............... But you must preparing tissue for your tear as well

Win or Lose is nothing important than Lao team can go to fight with Japan or Thailand so if we win they wont look down on us anymore and if we lose is just normal as we always lose and wait to fight again in the next round.

Some people here dont know about reality that Lao U 15 and Japan U15 is not big different...

According to the result of the qualifying round of Asian U 16 Championship in 2008 they lost only 1-2 to Japanese boys..

so just what i have say... lao will have chance to beat Japan and Thai too...

Not only Laos done for many pass decades. Now seems that you are far a way from football. Now no one or any countries could lie the age of sporter any more, they have very modern technology to check the age

(KPL) Twenty two Lao delegates, who visited Fukushima, Japan from 1-6 June under the JENESYS programme as a part of Mekong-Japan Exchange Year 2009 event, together with the same numbers of Japan and Mekong counterparts, finished their training and friendly tournament among six nations, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam and Japan.
A three-day round robin friendly tournament along with intensive training courses were held at J-village, a national football training center in Fukushima prefecture built in 1997.

Twenty two delegation members consisting of 18 football players aged around 15 years old, team manager, head coach, assistant coach and team doctor, who belong to Lao Football Federation, fought bravely against other teams; they beat Myanmar team by a score of 2-1 and lost to Vietnam by 0-1 on 3 June and won Cambodia by 3-0 and lost to Japan by 2-0 on 4 June.

The last day's match saw another victory of Lao players over Thailand by 2-1. according to former J-league player, Lao team is very much unified. They call to each other loudest and the coaches were always with the players.

Another big programme was given to the 100 youths in Tokyo, a JFA Kokoro project programme. It was a special programme targeted teenagers, in which former Japan internationals, Mr. Tsuyoshi Kitazawa, Mr. Yasuyuki Moroyama and former Japan Under-17 international, Mr. Jun Ideguchi served as lecturers to talk about life and dreams. The youth players also attended a J-League Nabisco Cup match between Omiya Ardija and Yokohama F.Marinos in Omiya on 7 June and paid a courtesy visit on Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 8 June before leaving for Vientiane on 9 June.

It is highly expected that Lao team members take full advantage of the intensive training so as to not only prepare for the upcoming first preliminary Asia Zone, but also be a part of building a stringer friendship among the Mekong region countries and Japan.
