There's no need for cameras. Lets focus on paving all the roads first before thinking about putting up cameras. Very forward thinking, I like that, but come on lets be real here.
After posting a comment above, I think it's not Vientiane that plans to put up cameras; I think it's Mr. Thakek's idea...LOL
no, this is the government's plan, I think it is good to put up the cameras in vientiane, first the police can control the traffic and second it is easy to find a somone who broke the law, you know what, I mean...
I really think it good than bad ? Why ? here the SEA-GAME coming up on December, and it's gonna have a lot of peoples floating into the Counrty from the members of Southeast Asian nations to see the Games, especially from the closed neighbors. like Thailand, Vietname,Cambodia, and Burma, and even maybe some from Yunnan provine, all of these people can drive their cars all the way to the Capital-City of Vientiane, so that the Government of Vientiane come-up with the Security-Camera just to catch a local-gangs/ a bag- snatchers and as well as the foreigner who come in and engaging in illegal activity. also the drivers who violate a traffic law like run through traffic light, hit-and run.so all these thing is a plus for our City, and Here is the minus, a local residents will loos some of their privacy. exsample if you and your gril-friend standing at a corner of the camera and kissing tangueto tangue you will be expose to the hole town's resident to see. Right!! and all of these Secuirty-Camera probably not too expensive and the government could afford it..No big-deal. i guess....
