Although my English is only mediocre but due to my prolonged residence in the United States, I can more or less help you on this so you can feel at ease ok.I have not ever heard people would say “in terms of that” but I do often hear people say “in terms of or in terms of what?”Here are the examples:
It is unquestionable that the United States will remain the most powerful country in the world throughout this century interms of its military might but not the most influential nation on earth. Laos has been well-known for its faith in Buddhism throughout history of its existence but in terms of people with willingness to ordain as a monk, has gradually been on the decline. By the way, you also need to speak English as often as possible so you won’t have a thick accent. As you know, accent is the hardest thing to get rid of.It takes years of practice. You shouldn’t be too concerned about your grammar especially at this Samakomlao Web Site and just because some people may have lived in the U.S, does not necessarily mean they can speak better than you. It really depends on how old they were when they came to the states and if they had graduated from any school.
Oops, I forgot to divide paragraphs for you, so I have to edit them.
Samakomlao is NOT the place to learn grammar like BRUCE said. I don't care about my spelling or grammar when I write stuff on internet forum or when I chit chat like this. But if was writing a term paper for my college class or discussing about important topic (not here at SAMAKOMLAO) I would pay more attention on those things.
YEP the only way to get rid of that accent is to keep working on it. I know a Lao guy who been here for almost 30 years and he got a bad accent. It is because he does not have any American friends and was not able to practice his English.
In terms of your lack of speaking of American English, you will not be able to get rid of your heavy Lao accent or you will have difficulty in trying to use English vocabulary or to communicate in English with someone.
In terms of that or in terms of this it isn't so hard to speak English with someone. You will have to practice it everyday and watch tv as much as possible.
