Fast food restaurants such as KFC, Macdonald, etc is now a boom in Phnom Phen, Cambodia. Let's imagine if we have some of these restaurants in Laos. Our people wil flux to those restaurants sure.
I don't think lao NEED that... but anyway, why not having such restaurant that we can find everywhere in the world? Even if it's not a need, this can be just a good opportunity.
i just hope such restaurant can sell more healthy food that what they usualy do (fat fat fat)... or all lao people will become fat and get health problems.
I would strongly prefer to see a lao firm developping a new brand of "lao fast food" everywhere in the country, and why not in other countries. Selling LAO food in simple, low price, fast service, modern design and quality guaranted restaurants could be a good thing. By "lao food", i mean food inspired by lao traditional food, but why not in a way "transformed" to look more modern, be easier to eat..... That would be a great project.
yes I think lao need to have those kind of restaurant. Not all tourist want to eat Laos food but they all do like Laos girls. it American brand but Lao people can own it. that how you provide job dumbass.
Personally, I don't think fast foods chain will be a big hit in Laos. If you asked me, would I want to see all those fast foods chain opening up in Laos? I would say.. YES!!! It is good for Laos to have all those fast food places.
When I'm in Laos, I much prefer traditional lao foods.
Personally I don't think Laos have enough potential yet to open all of these American Fast Food restaurants! We should focus more on infrastructure first.
Why import american fast food culture in Laos? I prefer to see Laos developing it's own way, find it's own successfull products, brands, etc...!
When laos will look like any other country in the world, when lao culture will not mean anything any more because Laos will have lost all it's spécificity, do yo think tourists will still go to this country to enrich it? will you still love this country the same?
PHNOM PENH, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- Blaming the global financial crisis, a major South Korean developer will dramatically reduce the scale of its proposed one billion U.S. dollars 7-skyscraper complex along the Tonle Bassac River to just three buildings at half the original price, national media said on Wednesday.
Ground was broken in June for the International Finance Complex (IFC) but construction on the site will be postponed more than one year, said Woo Mu-hion, chief of the business division in Cambodia for the project's developer and sole financer, the Seoul-based GS Construction and Engineering.
Construction was halted earlier this month, he was quoted by English-Khmer language newspaper the Cambodia Daily as saying.
"The market has changed. Due to such uncertainty, we think it is not clever to continue construction right now. We want to change our design, but we will maintain 52 storeys," he said.
The project will only include two 51-storey condominiums and a mixed-use 52-storey building, which will be the tallest in Cambodia, he said.
Construction on the complex could restart in early 2010, but first the company needs to redesign it and get government approval for the new plan, he added.
We need all kinds of investment, including fast food to accelerate our economic drive, and to achive an average economic growth more than 7 percent a year...
but i heard that the KFC, the famous American Fast Food had a bad scandal about their Chicken.. so i dont welcome KFC... but i welcome mcdonald...\
When I visited Laos or countries in SE Asia, I always prefer the local foods. They taste better. Most of the local food vendors are already fast so who needs greasy KFC and McDonald's.
Be frankly, I want the fast food shops in vientiane, What's wrong? yeah, it s unhealthy food, but the city like vientiane should has the fast food, because many tourist may want to have this kind of food, I am sure that many Laotian also like to go for eating sometimes...
but don't copy from cambodia, we can copy from USA OR JAPAN THIS IS MY OPINION
I don't like Lao people patroning the fast food restaurants because sooner or later, they will not like to cook and eat at home and they will spend money in eating out the junk food every day.
