Where will this money go to and is that enough for Laos?
Sweden provides USD 28 million to Laos
(KPL) The Swedish Government has provided a grant of US$ 28 million to Laos for continuing the implementation of the cooperation projects of Laos and Sweden in the next four years or till 2013.

This 'handout mentality' is becoming a problem with certain people in Laos...too used to others giving them money, too dependent on foreign aid...to the point where they start to EXPECT others to support them...& the only skill they have developed is how to stretch out their hand for more money that will just fall down from the sky i.e. begging skills...
'Is that enough' is a question asked by those who have no shame. Wish they'd ask themselves how they could work hard to ensure that every cent of other people's money is well-spent on improving Laos & not wasted.
Think about what your question makes others think about your country...it's quite a turn off to past, current & potential future donors.
If you guys learn United Nation's regulation more, you guys may understand something...it mentions about the developed countries shall provide 0.7 percent of their GDP in contribution to helping the least-developed or developing countries... that's why you always see the news on TV about the donation from developed countries to the poor country...
we Laos... try to receive aids with no condition and strings... If one day in future when we become rich country like those, we will also have to give and provide 0.7 percent of GDP to contribute to helping those poorer country...
For sweden, I think it is good that they chose help Laos... and It would be also good if we can stand by our feet.... cheer, cheer for our wholeheart-loved Laos...
to receive or not to receive, for me , it's just nothing... cos this amount of money will not change my life or my children life, the dirty roads of our villages will be the same for the next decade : it is to say till the end of my life.
look at african countries. they need more help than laos. When is going to be enough. Laos pupulation is less than 6 mills. If Laos don't improved their politic and education their alway going to depended on foreing aides. In laos people have money and power that will alway have oppotunity to be beter.
Laos is an expert on begging for money. Just like American addicted to oil. America must develop alternate fuel source for the mass and Lao must learn to stand on its own feets instead of begging all the time.
National pride is priceless and remember forever. Money come and go.
