This question does not mean to look down on countries that are communists, but I want to know if communist leave anything tangible for its people, or it is just the ideology ?
I have been visiting, studying in many countries including China, US, Thailand and other capitalism countries.....etc, that couldnot make me change my love to my country Laos, I love Laos, i love the way it is, it is stable, safest place, sustainable progress toward civilised countries... the people's personality is very nice. even some the people from civilised capitalism countries also wanted to live in Laos. by above, So now can you imagine how beautiful atmosphere that our country are currently having

yeah its a ideaology but its jus different from democracy that doesnt make it evil. jus because its a different form of governance. yeahh both democracy and communist have their flaws. neither one is better then the other or more right then the other. just different. i know its not every ones fault for believing communist is evil its the way ppl grew up and that wut hte propaganda has been feeding you for almost your whole life. im not trying to dfend communism but thats like blind hate.

Laos is not a communist country. Its a social democracy. Many of the people in Laos enjoy their freedom. But because its Socialist, you can not demonstrate or talk negatively towards the government. That part of the socialist should be change.
People should not be arrest for speaking their mind in a peaceful manner. This should not threaten the government it anyway. Unless the government are weak.
But as for the country of Laos right now. I think Laos are moving in the right direction. I went to Laos 5 times in the lats 5 years. I can see alot of average Laotian are Selling and buying new truck. VIGO is big in Laos right now, rich or poor people wants one. Its a status symbol. That is decomcratic at work.
When i was in Laos. One thing that i notice. You can not talk bad about the Vietnamese. I once accidently call "keow" . My hole family hush me aside, and told me that i should used the word "Viet" instead. If i was a regular Laotian in Laos, i would have been arrested.
There are two things you cannot say in Laos. First, talk bad about the government. And second, insult Vietnamese goverenment. Other than that its find to live and visit.

i don't agree with the above comment and i think if the communist regime collapses earlier, laos will be like thailand right now. i mean the stability of the country. because as the person above would like to be the boss. it's good for communist country, is the only one party, it's suitable for laos. the reason is because laos is developeing country, ppl are low on education, low maintenance, low of almost everything. one word laos is not ready for democracy by the west standard, but don't worry the country is moving this way. we don't need backward revolution. let it goe. at least ppl are enjoyoing the stabily and safety in the country. if you are not happy with it, it's because you live in most developed country. we can not compare laos to USA, it's uncomparable.

don't blame on gov blam e on yourself. my grand parents was poor. but my parents no t that bad. if you not want to work youself up. who will do for you . all my aunts my uncle are educated. my cousin all have high education . may be u not see the real thing

Laos is a social democratic. Not communist. People own cars, lands, and cell phones. You can travel to any countries in the world with the proper paper. American man can married a Laotian wife and sponsor her to America. Relative can also be sponsored to work in America.

I completely agree with both of you. To develop the country, it needs times.
But the most important thing is the peace and stable condition in the contry which is the heart of development. And another thing is the government has high effort to develop Laos that we can see. from now, Laos is in right path to the correct civilization. I mean that some countries have a civilization, but I have so much murder, rape, stealing, hungry, shooting at school, discrimination... Laos is peaceful for people I miss home a lot, and will come home soon.

I completely agree with both of you. To develop the country, it needs times.
But the most important thing is the peace and stable condition in the contry which is the heart of development. Biggest brother as china will develop their country into the capitalism ways. china's system is totally defferent ways compared to Laos and vietnam,chinese people are actually freedom, they can do what they want in this country unless don't try to threaten or overthrow the government. Laos is not a communist country, why am i saying that? because if you have been in Laos, you woud not see the word" communist in Laos" . Laos now, no matter whatever ways to choose for its system, i think the development is still slow, all still need the support and aid from international, look at Myanmar ,our neighbor, Myanmar has chosen their capitalism ways in oder to make the country better and developed, but the government is still not open enought, the people are still poor and worse than Laos. look at thailand as well, what the hell going with their politic? hopefully, Laos is Laos. no matter what the country will be...

If the word are disrespectful, than we should stop using it. Just like "******" to "African American". We should respect all the people of Laos. I think the word "Meow" are from the old regime. The Monarchies tend to respect their own people. I'm glad they are gone. I hope they get rid of the Monarchies in Thailand. They are useless.
In Hmong language "Meow" means barbarian. For Lao language means Cat. Thod means good in Vietnamese langauge. For Lao language means" Fart". When laotian says Thod , is that meant we don't respect Viet. people?
that funny bro ! that the way we should thing , try not too be serious, bcos we r lao. the problem that pressing us right now is we still dont have enough infrastucture like: road ,electricity wire,tape water.. to connect the city to the remote area. those r the main stream to improve the economy. the gov need time and fund to complete that task . all we should do is trying to build by our self.
Vang pao is criminal. He knows, if he get control of Laos, he'll be among the richest man in the world. The people of Laos are poor. But the country itself is worth Billions, even in the Trillions.
The country of Laos is a prize proccession for anybody. Its rich with natural resourse, and land. Vang Pao would sell the country of Lao for a large profit. And split with the Royal famaly in France. Because if Vang Pao is back, so will the cowards Royal family in France. They are Thieves, the both of them.
