ADB Lends $10 Million To Laos For Tourism
Permalink

MANILA (AFP)--The Asian Development Bank, or ADB, said Friday it is lending $ 20 million to Vietnam and Laos to develop tourism in the unique Greater Mekong Subregion.

Both countries will receive $10 million each for the tourism development project that will benefit nine provinces in Laos and five in Vietnam, the ADB said in a statement.

These provinces were "selected for their high tourism potential and poverty rates," the ADB said from its headquarters in the Philippine capital.

The project will support the construction of handicraft markets, viewing points, small access roads, walking trails, tourism signs, information and visitor centers, parking areas, small river piers, community lodges and sanitary facilities, the ADB said.

The loan and project is part of a scheme to develop the Greater Mekong Subregion, which is composed of six countries sharing the Mekong River - Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.

I wouldn't say it is free money.  It is a loan, eventually Laos will have to pay back.  Most likely, the people of Laos will ending up paying it forever.

Oh, Khonthakek.... Vigo is a nice truck, similar to the Tundra from U.S.  I think it is still over price though.
