China to build section of China-Laos-Thailand railway (KPL)
China will invest 20.4 billion Chinese yuan (roughly 3 billion USD) in building a 600-km railway segment running from its southwestern province of Yunnan to Thailand’s Mohan through Laos.
A feasibility study of the Yuxi-Mohan section of the China-Laos-Thailand international railway will be completed in this year. The construction will then start as early as possible, an official with the Yunnan railway construction leading group was quoted by news reports as saying.
Up to 70 percent of the total investment of the project will be provided by the Chinese Ministry of Railways, with the remainder being funded by Yunnan Province.

where is it exactly? What is the pathway of this project?

Good question Paris.  I wish I have an answer for you but I dont.  That would be awesome if they can build that railroad line.  What I like to know is... Who's going to be paying for that 30% of total cost?  Lao Government??  Private business sectors??  I highly doubt that Lao Government will fork out 30% of $3 billion USD.

Oh really?? This mean the bridge crossing the MeKong River have to be in built first.  Since there's no bridge at the moment.  So, we will not be seeing the train zooming through Laos anytime soon.  2020 maybe??

If Laos has 40 millions population, Big Brother will be more serious and to be able to finish railway project in 3 years, not 2020.

If there are a lot of stops in Laos, that would be good.
Many foreigners and traders can get off the train and enjoy Lao culture.
I don't want Laos just to be the by-pass, but we need to do something to
get benefit from this project.

i really would like to hear that the railway project will be built in the southern Laos links to the northern Laos, so that i won't take the bus anymore, it takes at least 6 hours by public bus from thakek to vientiane, I think if it will save my times to take the train, at least 3-4 hours. what u guys think?

but this project seems to be in our dream, so we are just looking forward to seeing other railway links such as linking from china to the nothernlaos, Link from the nongkhai to vientiane, Link from the Vietnam, what about in the southern and central part of Laos?
