Nokia Corp. is expected to unveil a high-profile touch-screen phone, known by gadget aficionados as the "Tube," at an event on Thursday, according to industry analysts.
In launching the device, the world's largest handset maker by shipments takes its stab at Apple Inc.'s iPhone, which set off a wave of copycat devices that attempted to emulate its sleek user interface. Nokia is the last of the major handset makers to put out a touch-screen cellphone.
"
The device, which will be called the Nokia 5800, emphasizes music first and is more of a multimedia player than a full-blown smart phone. Key to the device will be Nokia's Comes With Music software, which takes on Apple's iTunes store.
iPhone is much better phone in terms of software applications and 3rd party applications. As for Nokia phone, you will not be able to download other applications to your phone. Although, Nokia phones are really popular in Asia. What's the point of buying that expensive of a phone? When your network carrier doesnt provide those type of service?
Nokia will unveil its first touch-screen phone next week and we will see which one is the best between Iphone and Nokia.? you may know that LG Electronics, Samsung Electronics and several smaller handset vendors have rolled out their own touch-screen phones over the last two years, i am just so curious what the Nokia touch-screen looks like? i hope that the price is not so expensive and easy to operate.

The Nokia phone you show above is probably in $600-700 range. Yes, I know alot of companies are coming out with phones with touch screen and bigger screen. They all follow Apple(iPhone) and come out with similar applications. This past July, Apple had launched its iPhone to the japanese and chinese. I still can't believe people in Laos are paying $1200 for the 3 iPhone.
