(KPL) The That Luang Area Development Project will be launched in this coming June.
Vientiane Mayor, Dr. Sinlavong Khoudphaythoune and relevant officials inspected the project construction sites.
The project groups four main works, including the construction of a new Unknown Soldiers’ Monument in front of the National Assembly, the improvement of the That Luang Square, the construction of the Saysettha Park, the relocation of the Phonkheng gas station, and the improvement of the That Luang temple and the resettlement of That Luang residents. The works are expected to be completed in the next two years.
So far the Public Works and Transport Institute has completed the design of the development works.
"The project groups four main works, including the construction of a new Unknown Soldiers’ Monument in front of the National Assembly, the improvement of the That Luang Square, the construction of the Saysettha Park, the relocation of the Phonkheng gas station, and the improvement of the That Luang temple".
Definitely, all these projects would only make Vientiane, Saysetha district in particular, more beatiful.
TSP you are right. Sorry for the mistake. According to other newspaper, the development of That luang square is to welcome the 45o anniversary the founding of Vientiane city. The plan for the development of vientiane city will follow the 6 sors (ສ) (Lao alphabet) that are
Lao exporting electricity to Thailand but the government won't take responsibilty to light up Pra That Luang every night to attract the toursits. What a shame. Pra That Luang is the country asset, the government wants the temple to pay for electricity bill. Think about it, temple hasn't got a income like the governent, how can they afford to pay for the electricity, that's why the That Luang lights are only on when there is an important occasion, most of the time it would be switch off. I hope the new project will shine the lights on That Luang this time

Can't wait to see when it's done. Just a suggestion, it would be nice if there's a reflection pool (just like in the pic except that the rice paddy is replaced with clear pond). I think it will look beautiful when the Lai Heua Fai takes place, sounds nice?
anybody have a copy of proposal plan for these project??? i just like to see where exactly these buildings are going into??? as far as location wise.. one thing i like to see is a real precise mapping system for all the roads in VTE. than eventually, someone can turn that into a GPS..
