From my heart to the tip of my pen
by Lang - Sitthiprasert Kaewjaras

'Sabaidee'…First of all, I would like to ask all Thais out there for their love and support. My name is Lang-Sitthiprasert Kaewjaras. I am a 20-year-old from Laos, currently in my final year at the National University of Laos's Faculty of Economics. I am the only child in my family.

My dad is 66 years of age and his name is Dang Kaewjaras. He used to work at the Laos Ministry of Foreign Affairs before he resigned to work for Laos Airline. He has since retired. My mum, Sawatsri Kaewprasert, is now 59 years old and runs her own beauty salon. She hardly has any rest because she has so many customers!)

I never thought I would enter the entertainment business even though I had the opportunity several times in the past. I had a pretty straightforward childhood. My mum tells me I wasn't any trouble when she took me to the temple on Buddhist holy days. A lot of people came and talked to me when my mum took me out as I looked different, as if I were half-foreign.

I think I am tall because I liked drinking milk. My mum says I hardly drank water, only milk and milk. She says that I drank several liters of milk a day. I was lucky to enjoy drinking milk, otherwise I would have been much shorter than this!

I was a mummy's boy when I was young. I would follow my mum everywhere she went and she must have been around me everywhere I went too. So I guess that's the reason why I have household skills like sweeping the floor, cleaning the house, washing dishes and cooking. My favourite dish is fried rice with sausages. I cook this dish a lot and I think it is the most delicious fried rice in the world. Other people who have tasted this dish have always given me the thumbs up for it...

In the end, my life turned around when I was invited to join a sort of beauty pageant at my university. I actually won the contest, after which my current manager asked me to be a singer under the 'Sea-Art' record label. My first album was produced and promoted in Thailand, and was called 'Lang: Motion I'.

I guess deep down inside me I am ecstatic and confused at the same time because I have never worked in the entertainment industry before. It is a new thing I will need to learn and experience. It needs a lot of patience to carry on in this business. Every time I am down and tired (from traveling from Laos to Thailand after classes), my parents are there to support me. They advise me to be patient as nothing, including success, comes easily.

I want to save up a lot of money to take care of my parents, as they are getting older and older. So I want to do the best I can in my career. Of course, I don't know what is going to happen in the future but I think my determination and grit will lead me to success one day.

…Thanks for all the support from my Thai and Laotian fans. My sincere gratitude to all of you.

Man,  You are so handsome.  You could be a super model or movie star.  Can you sing, play music instrument or act?  All the girls will want to fall for you. Why are you asking Thais for love and support? Just curious!

I'm proud to see Lao entertainers chosing to sing and speak in Lao. Even though they are interview by the Thai media. I want people to understand the language is not that much different. It is interchangable, but I know some people don't want it to be...
