Laotian authorities warned the country's youth that they should not take advantage of Valentine's day to indulge in heavy drinking and under-age sex.
"Valentine's Day is not a day for young people to express their love with indulgence and parents should look after their children," Vientiane cultural officials were quoted as saying in the English daily Vientiane Times on Friday.
"Independent observers have noted that often when it is a special occasion, many young people go out at night and have too many drinks with their friends," it said.
You should not say they confuse everything You rather say they are confused by the Valentine Day's meaning. They confuse is different from they are confused by.
This whole sex fear thing is amazing! No one talks about the prostitutes all over Vientiane who sleep with old men at guesthouses. No one mentions the big hotels that offer girls to sit with clients and who then sleep with them for money afterwards. The Lao government denies the very existence of prostitution despite the fact that it is very definately a growing industry that services the wealthy as well as the working class with poor underage girls. Instead they issue warnings about kids having sex on valentines day! If old men are allowed to sleep with little girls, then little girls and boys should be allowed to sleep together too. If they want to get serious, they should prohibit underage prostitution and regulate guesthouses. Then they can start telling teenagers to have safe sex and to wait until they are legally allowed to have sex.
If it's true that there are a lot of under age girls having sex for money or selling their body then Lao as a whole has a big problem. If lao government could not do anything about this then lao government failed the people. It's a useless government, it does not understand about LAW. It's a lawless country. I live in Australia and you know it never happens that australian government allows sex with young kids, the australian government will use a big stick to deal with man who did against the law, these men if caught they will stay in jail for a long long time, that's LAW.
