Who will represent Laos to join the ASEAN Idol contest in December this year?



Phuong Vy from Ho Chi Minh City overcame Ngoc Anh from Ha Tay province to become the first Vietnam Idol.

Vy won over 53% of 720,000 votes cast by text message and phone calls on night of October 3.

Vy said that ability, luck and audience support were all equally important on the road to victory.

She received US $10,000 and a contract with Music Faces Company. This is an opportunity for her to enter the music industry and prepare for the ASEAN Idol contest in December.

Vy, Anh and eight other contestants of the final round performed at the awards ceremony held at the Hoa Binh Theatre in Ho Chi Minh on October 3.

After six months, Vietnam Idol attracted 6,000 contestants, mainly young people. According to organisers, it will continue annually. (VNA)
