(KPL) The Hygiene and Health Department under the Ministry of Public Health said last week that malnutrition among children was still high and worrisome to health workers.
The information was made at the 3rd Paediatrics Meeting held on 25-26 Sept in Vientiane with the participation of representatives of Health Science University, Setthatirath Hospital and health staff from hospitals across the country as well as international organisations.
Head of the Health Promotion Division, the Hygiene and Health, Dr Bounthom Thongdy said child mortality and illness were mainly caused by pneumonia, malaria, measles, and malnutrition.”
According to Dr Bounthom, the meeting was aimed to promote lesson exchange among paediatricians on their efforts to reduce illness and mortality of children.
