I'm afraid all of you misunderstand the meaning of working class in English.

From dictionary.com :The socioeconomic class consisting of people who work for wages, especially low wages, including unskilled and semiskilled laborers and their families

Also ;those persons working for wages, esp. in manual labor.

In other words manual unskilled labour, not rich people. From some of the photos most people making ten or fifteen thousand kip per day can't afford to eat at the restaurant. Seems most of the poorer people eat at home, or if they go out and splurge, they eat at a local pho shop.

I think you mean "bourgeois", perhaps your dictionaries have a mistake, or maybe common usage in English in Vientiane has an alternative meaning to "working class".

Marxism is an interesting look at ecenomics, I strongly recomend all read it.
