why not allow?
1.please consider on thier age ( which age has its special demand), when you are a little boy is different to when you are a teenager, to when you are at the age of working
2. please consider on their work after graduation because some work really need modern life stlye.
3. Hair stlye is a kind of beauty value which can be be changed along the time or the location (the existing society).

Asia is pathetic when it comes to rules like this. The Chinese grew long ponytails for generations, Thai and Lao Kings grew their hairs out, Samurais, etc. but now because of current trends they need to cut it?

Seems like Lao embassy in Hanoi does not have anything more important to do than worry about boy's hair!! hahaha. This is stupid. It looks bad for lao government.

Here, in my place Lao students prefer to have a short hair or just good looking due to some reasons. Here the fee for having hair cut is quite expensive, if compared to our currency it is about 60000 kip. Once they have the hair cut, maybe in 3 months they can have hair cut again. That's the first reason they prefer to have a short hair.
The other reason, perhaps, here their young people always keep short hair and their style is business-like. They seem to look down those who keep long hair, thinking these long hair people are less educated, if not ganters. In fact, here our Lao students are really hard working in their stydies. We study in business and engineering, but not in art. It could be the case, that they have no time to act like artises or singers. In addition, we also think we are smart, otherwise we could not pass exam to get the scholarship and study in this country. Furthermore, we also don't want other nation looks down us either. We are as representative of Lao people. The reputation of Lao people we are really care.

People from other nation are often more open minded that what you think!
People from other nation can accept that anyone is free to have long or short hair, and cut his hair just according to his taste. They will never look down to someone just because he have long hair (especialy if in the past it was a tradition in the country, respected even by king or important people).

But on the contrary people form other nation would maybe look down to people who are unable to respect the taste of others and stay so narrow minded.

What is the relationship between business/Engineering and hair size? absoloutly none! For business and engineering, you just have to be skilled and reliable.... nothing else. Who care how long is your hair if you do good job?

Moreover, there are many ways to wear long hair.
Long hair can be "funny style".... i understand this can be considered as inapropriate for serious things as business
But long hair can also be very elegant... just depend how you take care your hair....

Short or long hair can be clean or dirty.... whatever you do in life, get dirty hair is not good... The hair size is certainly not an important critera to judge someone.... but cleanliness yes, and MAYBE style (funny and coloured like crazy or just long, simple and attached back, this is the difference... depend what you do in life).

People in every country are different in their thinking. No doubt. I think, we are students in foreign country, the only way that we need to do is to work hard in our study and learn the best thing from the host countries.
Yes, surely Lao students can behave freely in terms of keeping hair styles.
I also don't think in Vietnam they will force every student to have a hair cut.
But, as embassy stuffs in Vietnam, they may suggest the students how to do best. That's their duty. They love students as their own kids.

Hey you guys. They are just students and they don't have money to have a hair cut every month. The best way to keep Lao students's hairs short is for the Lao embassy staffs in Hanoi to go out and cut Lao students' hairs every month.
