HANOI, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- A Lao young singer Palamy Phothisane will leave for China with seven other artists this week to take part in the Youth Festival in Changchun, Lao newspaper Vientiane Times reported Monday.
The event, scheduled from Sept. 22-28, is organized by China Central Television. The Lao group included Palamy, a popular young country star, and another folk singer as well as six dancers from the National Artist Troupe.
Palamy was the youngest in the group, and chosen to represent Lao youth and take Lao culture to China at the festival because she has a lot of experience, even though she is only 14. The group have been preparing for several weeks to entertain the Chinese audience with their songs and dance, said the newspaper.
This will be her first time on the Chinese stage. Until now she has only performed in Laos, Thailand and Vietnam, and presented traditional Lao songs and dance, said Palamy.
Palamy first joined the Lao Song Center in 2004, and released three albums in 2005. She has performed at many important government events, such as the Asean summit in Vientiane in 2004, said the paper.
