Vietnamese fashion has been influenced by Hongkong, Korean, now it's impacted by Japan Harujuku in recent years, especially teenagers in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city. Now girls in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city know how to beautifulize themself than before, they spend alot of money in making up and shopping.
The most modern girls in Ho Chi Minh city probably those are in RMIT university vietnam, they dress just like model, singers and stars. Not to mention there is vietnamese movie star, singers studying at RMIT Ho Chi Minh city. One thing I think is the more prettier they are , the more stupid they are.
The question is, Lao girls are influenced by the fashion of which country? 1) Thailand 2) Japan 3) France 4) America
hard to pick one, but I think Thailand is the place where most of the international influences on Laos come from: So Lao girls might be interested in Japanese fashion, but mainly because they see it in Thai media, not coz most of them actually go there or anything. Thailand is like the 'camera lens' through which many Lao people look to see the world. Maybe this is changing, as more access to satellite tv and new Lao media, but Thai media is still the dominant media in Laos.
I think dress simple is the best for lao girls, or females. Do not copy everything or imitate everything. Get some ideas which suit for lao girls, not red, yellow or blue hair, something like not in this Planet. I always like girls dress simple. It's nice.
it's really stupid, crazy !!!not pretty, not sexy.
the picture of this girl here just like a chump !!
lao girls, please don't do like this from bao lao. usa
I'd have to disagree. Japanese fashion is probably the best in the world. I went there, lived there for 6 weeks and the fashion is better than any probably because of the fact that they buy clothes not by brand but by looks. Go to Harajuku and you'll see what I'm talking about.
BBC reporter once did a report about japanese Identity crisis, this bbc reporter interviewed a japanese journalist about ' why japaneses have to dye their hair ? the english man stated that japanese people have the beauty of asian, the nature of itself why wanted to look like western girls.....because whatever you did you are still japanese and asian, so for this english reporter the matter is not just Fashion but Identity Crisis, that's mean you do not know what and who you are anymore.... For me the 4 lao girls in the picture on the top right corner, they look beautiful and nice with what they wear. For the picture about a japanese girl with pink hair....no doubt like the bbc reporter stated she has Identity crisis is okay for the top and skirt she is wearing but the hair colour, it's a problem, like the bbc reporter pointed out.
Also, it is a homogenous country. 98% of the population, is actual Japanese ethnic. Since they all look alike, they tried to find someone to look "different"
I like lao girls with their natural hair color: black ! and it is not good using continously the dye for coloring your hair, it is a chemistry components that could easily infiltrate in your skin and make you ill step by step, in the picture, I see an alien girl from other planet ready to take a fly with her strange slippers....
Lao people has its own culture, dress, hairstyles and own style of living that many foreigners praised lao people for conserving it, I really do not see why we have to run after these strange designs with strange mentalities if not insane...

A culture grows when the people grows. If all a sudden tomorrow they turned the Pha Sin into a mini skirt, and everyone's doing it, would you be okay with that?
Well if she had black hair then she looked cute and beautiful, but I am not sure about blonde hair. Blonde hair does not belong to asian people, so it looks strange rather than cute or beautiful. Come back to BBC english reporter interview, if he believe that blonde hair or blue hair or pink hair made a japanese girl looks terrible than he had a point.
For me if we turned the ' xin or xim mai into moderate skirts, it will do no harm for lao girls unless the skirts are not too short, otherwise it's going to be too hot for lao men the weather in LAO is already very warm....if lao girls wear too short skirts it will make lao men unbearable.
HeHeHe ! it would wake up the sleeping skull, and I don`t think it would be suitable for going to the temple to worship sitting straight over the monks, HaHaHa ! I fear they surely will not bear it. So please, don`t go there if you still want to wear mini-skirt or some thing like that !
I like to see the so beautifull lao traditional clothes evolve and modernise.
If sin stay "like this" and if lao fashion cannot propose anything new, i'm affraid lao women (for men's clothes, it's too late) will forget them, and use western clothes more and more. i don't say i don't like traditional sin (i love seeing my wife wearing it), but i think it's also good to have "modern lao clothes" to make everyone continue enjoy typical lao clothes, for now and the future.
It's good to see something modern, but definitly lao, respecting and valuing lao culture and know-how. Lao is rich country! Rich of his culture! Don't let foreing influence destroy this richness....on the contrary, VALUE-IT!
the jacket & skirt (but not the hat) in the last picture is the traditional clothing of the Akha ethnic group who live in northern provinces like Bokeo, Phongsaly, Luang Namtha...
it's at least 100 year old fashion, not new fashion ;)
