It's often said that people in Laos don't read. To which Big Brother Mouse says, maybe they just didn't have enough good books to read.
Big Brother Mouse is a new project, publishing books for children in the Lao PDR that make it fun, and easy, to learn to read.
Traditionally, books have been rare in Laos. Many children have never read a book except for school textbooks, some not even that. Few Lao people think that reading could be fun, or that it could add to their education, or could provide information to improve their quality of life. And, indeed, in the past, they were right.
Big Brother Mouse is changing that. This project was started by a retired American publisher, working with several bright and dedicated Laotian college students. Our first books just rolled off the press in March, 2006. Already we've opened a second office, and a new expanded website.

It's really a good deed. I really support for such project or idea. It's true that Lao children or even adult people don't like to read. If this project succeded, that would make something different in Lao society. I really appreciate it.
