The imitated goods are low quality it also takes advantage among genuine products as well as provide a complicated to consumers. Concerning to this issue, the Prime Minister has issued a decree on Intellectual Property (IP), which is being approved by the National Assembly as IP law, to protect customers as well as goods producers. Champassak Provincial Hall, the A meeting on dissemination of the Prime Minister on decree and regulations on the Intellectual Property and the Protection of IP rights was held in Champassak province on 15 June.
Various relevant Government’s Bodies such as the Entire Official Executive Committee team members and provincial authorities, Judiciary Division, Judge, prosecutor, Provincial Division of Trade, Provincial Division of Industry, Provincial Custom, Provincial Division of Public Security, Science, Technology and Environment Office (STEO), Dealers and Wholesalers, retailers and other related sectors were invited to the meeting.
With an aim to discuss on the issue of the protection of the IP rights of Unicharm Co., Ltd from Japan, in relation to its sanitary and diaper products “SOFY” and “MAMY POKO”, respectively, and all other registered trademarks including word mark, logo, three dimensional shape and other that belong to Unicharm Co, Ltd. Unicharm Co, Ltd strives to combat with the counterfeit products and illegal trafficking distribution and sale of counterfeit products in all provinces of Laos, especially Vientiane Capital and Champassak and all provinces in Laos. The meeting was chaired by the Director of Champassak STEO Khamphou Souliyavong who has raised the issue of the violation of the IP right of Unicharm Co, Ltd in relation to its sanitary and diaper products “SOFY” and “MAMY POKO”. To curb the issue, it is considered to be one of the core attraction investment, innovation and research and development in the future of Laos, said a representative of Unicharm company.
The meeting recalled all participants to be aware and acknowledged the illegal activities of this matter, and stop all actions of infringement of the said trademarks and power products.
The meeting have agreed to seize counterfeit products are being circled in local markets and merchants will be educated, for the counterfeit products will be destroyed.
