i think i've known this guy...
If im not wrong his nickname is lar and his hometown is in Thakek.
We used to study in the same course, which was foundation year course at the national university of Laos.
all students who used to do this course are now separated and furthering their studies in different places. Most of them are in civilized asian countries namely japan china and vietnamese, whereas some (incl. myself....lol) are in western countries like australia u.s and so on.

i think his voice is good even though i don't understand any vietmanese. he has an ability to be a singer and i believe that he is good student, he only uses his free time to write songs. Hope he will be a lao popular singer soon. waiting forward to listening lao songs from this guy

No matter he is real Vietnam or where ever he came from coz no one can not chose aplace to born but we can chose the way to do. as I saw in his interview ( I dont understand Vietname) he do NOP like lao people and if am not missunderstanding he like to talk about lao .however congratulation with his success and hope he wont for get about lao . smile

He's not Lao. He's Vietnamese living in Laos, and went to study in Vietnam. A lot of "real" Lao student went there too. They got scholarship from government which in fact received aid from Vietnam government.

No need to further publicize this dude. Well........maybe he tried to help him to advance his singing career...That's ok then......, please urge him to stay in Vietnam....ok?

Hey you guys ....

Why you are so critical to Vietnamese? Vietnamese live in Lao, so what? what wrong with that? Vietnamese live in everywhere in the world? particularly in the US :P Lao and Vietnamese have been living peacfully with each other more than a century, our ancestor have preciously built up this good relationship, please don't let our generation destroy it by causing misunderstanding and hate each other. At the end of the day, Vietnam is our only best neighbor that we have. I want to ask you guys that if one day, country "A" invade Laos and want to colonize our country, Will Thailand come to help us? Will China come to help us? Will Cambodia come to help? or Will America come to help us? At the end of the day, Vietnam is our only true brother that at least we trust and can rely on. Please rethink carefully, and behave in a right manner through mutual respect and kindness. Now is the year of 2007, I don't think it is good for us (as Laotian) to hold on our prejudice and discrimination against other nations.

but anyway.......his brothers, sisters aren`t Vnese......he was born in Laos............. his parents are Laotain.......his great great great parents are Laos people too...........^^'.........so........Keota-my friend isn`t Vietnamese........not a half-blood either.......^^'
Don`t think that a Laos people can`t write good songs or has an amazing voice like Keota......Keota really has a good talent.......maybe when he finishes his coure in VN........he would be a star in Laos^^.......anyway.......he`s now really popular in my country with the song Gửi làn gió above.....^^

Uhm.........that song was written to his mom, who lives in laos........he wants to say that he loves his mom really much......he misses family......misses New Year Eve when he at home.....he wants his mom know that he`s fine and he`s trying much to pass all his problems when living far from family with his brave heart ^^.........

The title Gửi làn gió means:send by the wind.....send the feelings......the thinking.....the love from a son to the mother.....by the wind......

I wonder how lao people who criticized this guy, if they are lao who live in USA do they wanted to be kicked out of America, called them as second class or low class as many documents from USA reported about South East Asians living in USA. Many laos and Meo, are still think in rubbish but only thing they can do. They show that are nothing to LAO, not doing any good things to Lao but themselve. I saw time after times many documents, try one called DESCENDED TO HELL and you will understand you past as well as people who saw this document, 3 hours, on sale on DVD any retails shops. Most of posted here use Anonymous name and do not even use their Laotian Name. What's a shame :( :( but this Keota is a Laotian why do you think he is a vietnamese. If he is a vietnames but he wants be a Laotian that's good for Laotian people. Laotian People should all support Keota. We should not Discrimination one another. Laos need more people to build Laos. Even a lot of Western come to live in Lao for good...... So be friend and peace with your neighbor.... lao should support lao....

I agree with the above person, in Vientiane I saw many Westerners live and have CD shop, Pub near Don Chanh Hotel and english married Lao girl and settle down there. So discrimination anywhere only brings suffering and pain.

It says Racism is a disease of the mind and only sick people hate the other who does not have the same skin colour and background as them. So be aware of that.

We should treat people by their acts not their colour or background. If a person is good in something, we should support and wish them well.
