Red buddha in Luang Prabang

This buddha status is quite different from other budhha status in Laos in term of the color. Most of the buddha status in Laos is painted with yellow, black or white. but this buddha status painted with red.
Does this buddha status have any special meaning?idea

A friend who used to be a novice in Wat Saen (where the red Buddha is) said it's not completed yet, because the monk who was making it has left the monkhood.
